Kids from the Elementary...
With many family's income reliant on tourism, trash and graffiti directly affects the economy of a community.
In response to rising levels of tagging and graffiti in local communities, Grupo de Apoyo Ray Thomas has initiated a program to clean up some of Baja's most affected areas.
Utilizing local students, the foundation has initiated paint-outs at schools, sports facilities and other public spaces. This program offers students a chance to actively participate in their community as well as experience first hand the environmental, social, and economic effects that trash and vandalism has on their lives.
Community Pride from Walk 1000 miles in their shoes on Vimeo.
The time and effort invested into each project, instills a sense of pride and responsibility for students and their communities. This sense of entitlement has proven to be a major deterrent to peer pressure and and in most cases results in future community participation.
We hope to expand these community cleanups to eventually offer recycling options to schools and communities.
